We Interrupt Our Regularly Scheduled Programming
The content of this site is dedicated to reveling in the wonders of music and its power over me as well as an occasional hint of mockery directed at the music that doesn’t. In other words, COAF is a place where music fans can come together to have a good time talking about our passions.
I’d like to take a short break from that revelry in light of the unspeakable and horrifying tragedy that has devastated Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, VA. I hope I am speaking for many millions, and I am confident that I am, in offering my prayers, thoughts, and condolences to the families of the victims. Your grief and loss is immeasurable, but you are not alone in your sorrow.
I don’t know what else to say…

Yeah me either except…
…how bout: GUN CONTROL!!! Jeez how hard was that…?
I am sure we’ll hear a lot of discussion on the subject of gun control and the wheres and whatfors, but I’m not sure now is the time to begin that.
Mr. Grundies:
If you don’t know what else to say, that leads me to believe that you said something preceeding “GUN CONTROL!!!” What exactly would that something be? Were you agreeing with the statement made by Mr. Hathaway or were you mocking it with your eloquent bout of “Jeez how hard was that…?”
Please don’t misunderstand me when I say that gun control wasn’t the first thing on my mind when I heard this news. I agree that this issue should and will be addressed. I also agree that now is not the time.
Today I found myself in the midst of my co-workers, a few I have permanently labeled as “shock-junkies”, discussing this event, making predictions and assumptions in an almost callous way. It unnerved me how casually we were all talking about it. It wasn’t real to us…it was “reality tv” to us. CNN.com has a cell-phone video recording of police responding to very audible gun shots. I counted 6 shots before I was disgusted and ashamed of myself for watching.
No…the first thing on my mind was humanity doesn’t seem very humane does it?
I feel you Josh, am basically speechless on the subject at present as well. It’s something that everyone is talking about today
I really hate that the gun debate reared its head so quickly with this. It is an important debate, and certainly this tragedy should be used in that debate, but not now.
When I think about the horrors we are capable as a people, I want to just stay in bed.
