Barnes & Noble’s CD prices are atrocious. They are awful. They are unreasonable. I cannot believe anyone can, with good conscience, sell single CDs for $17.99 and $18.99 a piece.
TheWifeToWhomI’mMarried agrees… especially after I bought two of them despite the unreasonable prices. Yeah, I know, way to send the bastards a message. Actually, these two CDs are the first CDs I’ve bought in person in a long time. Ever since I boycotted Best Buy, I’ve bought more and more of my babies online.
Barnes & Noble’s blues section is also the best in Huntsville. That’s not saying much as everywhere else in this town thinks a copy of a B.B. King CD and maybe something from Muddy Waters constitutes a blues section. I wish I could say that was some kind of exaggeration. Sadly, it’s not much of one. B&N’s blues section isn’t great, but it’s wider than that.
With the addition of Irma Thomas’ After the Rain, I now have all five of the BMA nominees for Album of the Year. That’s pretty cool. I’m very happy about that. I wish I could have had that before I had to turn in my ballot.
The Dar Williams’ purchase is the fault of one Mark Saleski. In the wake of recent current events, he found something worthwhile in her album and it moved me to buy a copy for myself. You should read his article. You’ll want to buy a copy, too. He’ll buy you dinner if you don’t like it. I have a feeling we will.
