The Associated Press can shampoo my crotch.
I read this article on CNN and I could barely contain my contempt, scorn, and disdain. Yeah, I know — three words that all mean the same thing — but I was pissed and I’m going for emphasis.
The story makes the case that the majority of American music […]

Dear Music Industry,
I hear you’ve been having some financial troubles lately. I can identify. Of course, my financial woes are largely your fault as most of my disposable income winds up being spent on music in one form or another but that’s beside the point. The point is your sales are plummeting […]

If nothing else, I put my iPod to work today. That was probably the only reason to get out of bed, when you come right down to it. I woke up to listen to music.
Missing from the list you’re about to witness are the songs from A Bigger Bang that I […]

I don’t know what “Anna Begins†is about- not exactly. I can’t follow Adam Duritz’s lyrical labyrinth- not exactly.
“Anna Begins”
None of that really matters, because I know exactly what “Anna Begins†does to me when I listen to it. It destroys me. It creates a lump in my […]

Let’s get something straight right out front: this is not intended to be any sort of definitive “Greatest Guitarists of All Time.†It’s not even intended as a “Greatest Guitarist of This Era.†Here endeth the disclaimer.
I love the guitar. I love guitar-heavy music. I have heaps of admiration for those […]

Barnes & Noble’s CD prices are atrocious. They are awful. They are unreasonable. I cannot believe anyone can, with good conscience, sell single CDs for $17.99 and $18.99 a piece.
TheWifeToWhomI’mMarried agrees… especially after I bought two of them despite the unreasonable prices. Yeah, I know, way to send the […]

What a day! The Red Sox come back and beat the Yankees in the 9th inning, and I got an advance copy of the new Arctic Monkeys album, Favourite Worst Nightmare. We’ll be talking more about that in the coming days.
Spent some time listening to Babyshambles this morning and on in to the […]

In a perfect world, or a world where I had more money, I would be going to Memphis to cover the BMAs. Since it appears all but certain I will continue to live in the world without enough money, I can count myself lucky that XM Radio will be broadcasting and streaming the event. […]

Etta James - “At Last”
Etta James’ “At Last” might be the most wonderful vocal performance in musical history. My iPod randomly queued this one up, and I never get tired of hearing it.
I know it’s not nice to praise one thing by putting another down, but […]

Misery loves company, but what do you do when the reason you’re miserable is because you’re alone? In my case, I turned to my CD collection.
These days, I’m happily married but still occasionally miserable. Now I commiserate with my iPod. We all have those days where we want to wallow […]
