Let’s Talk About My iPod: May 19,2007

There’s not really much to tell here. I spent most of the day listening to Wilco’s Sky Blue Sky.

I went to a dance recital today to see my nieces. I wish there had been a camcorder on my face as I had to listen to some of the songs that were used for the dance routines. Pain. I felt assaulted by it. Somehow I managed not to reach for my iPod during the performance. I’d have taken the earbuds out when the nieces were on stage. I’ve done it in the past. I left my iPod in my pocket until I went snooping around the local music retailers. Couldn’t find what I was looking for at a price I was willing to pay. I’m probably just going to order what I was looking for. I hate having to order. I’m too impatient for that.

I guess I did listen to a little something besides Wilco as I think about it. I heard some Elliott Smith New Moon, some Jarvis Cocker solo record, and “Babies” by Pulp.

  1. oi, Sky Blue Sky will be the death of me. so many little interesting nooks & crannies in that recording. absolutely love it.

but just to spice things up, i bought a Peaches cd last night. what a combination: Teaches of Peaches, and the books Bound For Glory (Woody Guthrie) & The Old, Weird America: The World of Bob Dylan’s Basement Tapes by Greil Marcus.

  2. That’s an album that is never going to get old. “I Hate it Here” is one I’ve come to like. Such a good album.

My quest to add more CDs to the collection shalt resume today.

  3. I’ve been diggin’ Sky Blue Sky myself, thanks to your recommendation.

    And thanks for the blogroll!

  4. Pico, glad I could play a part in bringing you and Sky Blue Sky together. That is one of those records that is going to transcend the year 2007. Because they didn’t try and make a record that sounds contemporary it will be hard to “date” it some years down the road. I think it’s always going to sound good and the songwriting is quite outstanding.

It’s a pleasure adding you to the blogroll. I don’t think about these things as well as I should, that being linking the other great music sites that are out there. Sadly, it’s getting harder to find good places to read and talk about music. It’s a pleasure to share a corner of the ‘net with you.
