TheWifeToWhomI’mMarried and I are on another of our famous “Movie Marathons.” To the surprise of no one who knows us, we’ve chosen the Lord of the Rings trilogy — the extended editions. We’re on the first disc of The Two Towers. This is just one of those things we like to do together — turn the ringers off the phone and binge on movies, pausing for the occasional stretch.
While it is distracting me from the writing I need to do and the pile of music that came in the mail , we’re having a good time and thoughts of music are still coursing through me. The scores to these films are nothing short of fantastic. I love the repeated themes — for Rohan, for the Shire, etc. — and the way the music enhances and creates the moods of the respective scenes.
