Music of the Moment: The Rolling Stones - Beggars Banquet
Seven hours later, can you believe I’m in a mood to listen to The Stones?
I’ve finally watched every ounce of footage on the Biggest Bang DVD set and have started working on the review. To keep me company during the writing process, I’ve brought my MacBook Pro out into the living room and I’m listening to some music on the stereo rather than on the iPod. I don’t have the ultimate audiophile setup, but I do have Beggars Banquet on SACD and I have an SACD player. It’s a shame SACD never took off because they really do sound great, even on a commercial audio setup like mine. This is some of the best remastering work I’ve ever heard.
Both Jagger and Richards have pointed to Beggars as one of their favorite Stones albums and, like many Stones enthusiasts, see it as the beginning of a real golden period in the band’s history. It’s a fabulous record, and I’ve got my SACD edition of Let it Bleed on deck. Long live The Stones!
