Music of the Moment: Wilco - Sky Blue Sky

I’m not sorry I skipped Bonnaroo, but I wish I’d gotten to see Wilco perform. I love this new record.

I finally finished my review of the new Stones DVD box, The Biggest Bang. I’ll probably have a few follow-up comments on it in the coming days, but in the meantime I’m glad to have finally finished the review and quite enjoyed watching all seven hours.

I’ve nearly finished my review of Tuatara’s East of the Sun. Once again, I’m going to have some follow-up comments for things that aren’t going to fit in the finished review. I still have to bring it all to a close. I hate writing conclusions. I don’t know why that part of the review annoys me so much, but it does. I’m likely to have it online tonight or tomorrow.

  1. I hate conclusions too. Everything sounds trite and boring and stupid. Reviews should be like conversations where after you’ve said what you need to say about an album you can transition to the next topic.

PS I just caught Wilco (for the third time) and Sky Blue Sky sounds great live!

  2. I haven’t gotten to see them yet, and it’s unforgivable because they are one of two bands to actually play in Huntsville in the past 20 years. I’m keeping an eye on them for this tour.

  3. Oh, and the conclusion thing… yeah, it blows. I’ve just told you why the album rules (or sucks). I always feel like I’m repeating myself when I write my conclusions.
