Music of the Moment: The Smashing Pumpkins - Zeitgeist

I just got an advance copy of the new Smashing Pumpkins record, Zeitgeist in the mail! Rock the world on high! I pre-ordered my own, proper copy but I can hear the album today. I rule.
I read a rather scathing review of this new album from AMG, so I am approaching the album with a little trepidation. Of course, my confidence is somewhat restored by the fact that Pitchfork doesn’t like it, either. I have never been the biggest Pumpkins fan, but consider myself a fan. I’m anxious to hear what he’s cooked up for the first chapter in his return to the moniker he made famous. I have a strange suspicion I’ll wish this was a new Zwan record rather than a new Pumpkins record, but I am eager to hear it.
UPDATE: I’ve listened to “Doomsday Clock” and actually liked it. Off to a good start…
