Noel Gallagher Had It Right, Billboard Has it Wrong, No New Material on Unplugged Re-Issues
Don’t Believe The Truth is a great album and a great album title. It also sums up my feelings after doing a bit of research into the supposed deluxe versions of those four Unplugged albums I mentioned last week.
I knew something was up when I started doing some digging on the AiC release. I used to have the show on VHS as well as CD and I thought I remembered all the songs on the CD being included on the VHS. Rummaging around the stores Friday night, I discover the current version of the DVD has all the songs included on the CD. Something about this seemed off.
Today, I got an e-mail from a contact with Sony who debunked the Billboard story. He said the label is basically shrinkwrapping the existing CDs and DVDs into one package with no new material on any of the sets. If you already have the CD and DVD version of one these sets, you have it all. If you’ve got one without the other, no reason to wait for this new set. You can buy your corresponding item separately. This re-packaging is mostly for the Johnny-come-lately who has neither.
