Springsteen Announces Charity Warm Up Shows in NJ
I find myself one more time geographically SOL for Bruce Springsteen tickets. Springsteen has again announced a couple of warm up shows in Asbury Park, NJ prior to his world tour. The tickets cost $100 and proceeds are being donated to as-yet named charities.
The shows are Sept. 24 and 25 (Mon. and Tues) at Convention Hall in Asbury Park. Springsteen’s world tour kicks off Oct. 2, the same day his new album Magic is released.
I guess I’m just going to have to move to Jersey. Alabama has Bo Bice, Taylor Hicks, and Reuben Studdard. New Jersey has Springsteen. Of course, they also have Bon Jovi which balances the scales slightly but not quite.
I’m going for a laugh, of course, because Alabama has produced a lot of musical talent and played a significant role in music history. W.C. Handy, The Father of the Blues, is from Florence, AL. Sun Records’ founder and producer Sam Phillips is also from Florence and owned a radio station there until his death in 2003. The Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section, Muscle Shoals Sound, and FAME were integral parts of some great records.
Alabama has a rich musical heritage; it just doesn’t have Bruce Springsteen… at least, not in 2007. Enjoy him, New Jersey.
