Pearl Jam Tour DVD Immagine in Cornice in Stores Sept. 25
Few “major” bands chronicle their work as live performers as well as Pearl Jam.
There are bands who do it more often and with more flair and polish, but Pearl Jam has carved out a special niche and the latest piece of that niche is the new DVD Immagine in Cornice (Picture in a Frame), due in stores Sept. 25.
Unlike their last live DVD (2003’s Live at the Garden), Immagine does not chronicle one complete show. In fact, this isn’t so much a concert DVD as much as it is a tour film documentary. This one follows the band around the Italian leg of their tour and features performances from Pala Malaguti in Bologna, the Arena di Verona, the Forum in Milan, Palaisozaki in Torino and Duomo Square in Pistoia, Italy.
In addition to the performance footage, there will be behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with the band as well as newly-recorded music by guitarist Mike McCready.
Immagine comes on the heels of the brilliant Gorge 05/06 live box set released in June. The band seems to be emptying the vaults from this last tour in support of their self-titled album as they prepare to move forward. Once again, I’ve let another Pearl Jam tour pass me by. I’ve got to stop doing this. I’ve heard enough of the official bootlegs and watched the Garden DVD enough times to know these guys are one of the surest bets on the concert circuit.
In the meantime, I’ll buy another live artifact and imagine what it was like to actually be there. Immagine in Cornice is directed by Danny Cinch (Springsteen, Guster, Foo Fighters, Ani DiFranco)

“Once again, I’ve let another Pearl Jam tour pass me by.”
Do you mean to say who haven’t seen them in a while or period? We might have to rethink this fanboy designation if we can’t get you out of the house.
I won’t list all the PJ shows I’ve seen because this one is enough to make everyone green with envy: Dec 27, 1991 Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers.
On YouTube there’s a great video of Rockin’ in the Free World from Lollapalooza
I mean I’ve never seen them, period. I don’t have any good excuses other than… well, I don’t feel like navelgazing at the moment. Suffice it to say Pearl Jam is a show I’m desperate to see and hope to rectify this on their next tour.
As for the one you list… yeah, I’m more than a little fuckin’ jealous of that one.
