Pete Doherty has tested clean for illegal drugs, according to NME. I’m nearly rendered speechless. Wow.
I wish I had a firm running count on how many arrests it took us to get here so I could see if I won the pool, but that’s really beside the point. For one day, we can put the snark aside and rejoice in some good news. A very talented kid with some very serious addictions may have turned an important corner on his road to recovery and I’m really happy about it. If Pete can do it, there may be hope for the sad soul that is Britney Spears.
If this is indeed a new day for Pete, we can now spend our time looking forward to the release of Shotter’s Nation, the second full-length disc from Babyshambles. In the meantime, it’s back to Magic…
