Music of the Moment: Tom Petty - The Last DJ
Someone just told me today is not Friday. Damnation! This week has been the strangest week in the history of weeks and I have a podcast to try to record tonight. Anything that keeps me away from the Red Sox impending doom is probably a good thing.
I’ve spent the afternoon revisiting Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ much-maligned The Last DJ record. You know, the critics were just fuckin’ wrong on that one. I actually heeded the advice of a critic and didn’t buy the album until years after it had been released. I’d like to give that guy a good cockpunch for keeping me away from this disc for so long. It’s a strong record with important things being said, backed by some great playing.
