Music of the Moment: “Midnight Rambler” — The Rolling Stones
Chief Antagonist Mark Saleski’s Friday Morning Listen has helped chart the course for my day. This week’s installment is about RAWK ANTHEMS and he sites the Ya-Ya’s live version of “Midnight Rambler” as one of his. I’ve never thought of “Midnight Rambler” as an anthem but I love that song and love that live version.
This reminds me that I need to get 11 a copy of Ya-Ya’s. His favorite Stones album is Let it Bleed and he loves the live version of the song the Stones did at Madison Square Garden back on the 40 Licks tour (available on the 4 Flicks DVD set). I keep telling him he needs to hear Ya-Ya’s but he has a strange refusal to ever buy anything on my recommendation. Bastard!
“…and it hurts!”

yeah, baby!!
and speaking of live Stones albums, you ever get Love You Live?
No, I don’t have that one yet. I’ve got it on my Amazon wish list. I went ahead and finished Ya-Ya’s. I have come to love Ronnie Wood, but Mick Taylor was a great fit for them.
i love every big, sloppy second of Love You Live
I really enjoyed those Biggest Bang DVDs that were released back in June. The Texas show was spectacular; the Rio gig was pretty great, too.
my favorite part of Love You Live is the set recorded at the el mocambo: Manish Boy->Crackin’ Up->Little Red Rooster->Around and Around
