Musical “To-Do” List: U2, McCartney, and Nirvana

I spent this weekend with family and it went better than you might expect. We had family in from out of town and it’s been great. The one downside of all of this, and it’s a small one considering how well things have otherwise gone, is in the work department. I got next to nothing done this weekend and I’m feeling the crush of it all.

Here’s my musical “to-do” list:

  1. Watch the U2 Paris DVD that came with my Joshua Tree 25th Anniversary box set. I’ve listened to both CDs, now I need to watch the DVD. I’m planning on doing a full write-up once I’ve ingested it all.

  2. I got an advance of the deluxe edition of Paul McCartney’s Memory Almost Full. I won’t be rehashing everything I wrote about the album when it was first released, so you can catch up on that while you wait to hear about the bonus tracks and DVD.
  3. I’ve got to prepare myself for whatever comes when I sit down to watch Nirvana’s Unplugged DVD. I have a feeling this is going to be emotional for me and I have no idea what might come flooding through the door when I watch it. I’m looking forward to revisiting this piece of my musical past for the first time in a great many years.
  4. I’ve recently bought a stack of CDs (that have no connection to the three items above) and I feel compelled to write reviews for them. I’ve got to force myself to find the time to listen more critically and sit down and write.

In the meantime, I just finished listening to Pearl Jam’s 2003 State College, PA bootleg (39 fuckin’ tracks!) and I’m listening to The Joshua Tree again.
