B-Sides Concept Album: The Pies of Depravity
The cherry has been busted; the first ever edition of The B-Sides Concept Album program has aired and, if I may be bold, it was an unqualified success.
The main topic for the evening was Bruce Springsteen. We rehashed Magic, discussed the current tour, and reflected on a few of our favorites. Guests Mark Saleski and “Iguana” Glen Boyd waxed eloquently about their experiences seeing him live and a good time was had by all.
Before that, Mark and I talked about a few of the albums we’ve not yet reviewed. Among them were:
- Pegi Young
- Nick Moss & The Flip Tops - Play it ‘Til Tomorrow
- The Kilborn Alley Blues Band - Tear Chicago Down
- Gerry Hundt - Since Way Back
- Elliott Smith - New Moon
- Bill Lupkin - Hard Pill To Swallow
- Dan Kahn
All of that and more was discussed on this inaugural episode. You can listen to it live here on the site or you can download it by going to the B-Sides Concept Album program’s home page.

Way too much springsteen aside, it was a good show. You guys sounded very clear and cool. Next time I’m phoning in and unleashing hell.
Good show…I really enjoyed listening to you and Saleski especially when it was not Bruce related.
All right, all right! Enough of the “too much Springsteen noise!” It’s called having the discipline to stay on topic. Next week’s topic will be different… maybe.
Thank you so much, both of you, for tuning in. It was a good start. I can’t wait to carry it forward!
SRod… when we get to R.E.M., you are expected to play along!
Sure…I’ll play come REM time. Although you might want to keep your crickets chirping effect handy.
Silly SRod. I’ll have the Hallelujah chorus from Handel’s Messiah ready, per Saleski’s orders!
I’m going to have to find a way to work some R.E.M. into the show sooner rather than later.
All right! Just finished listening, good stuff! And that’s, you know, despite the Springsteen content.
I’m relistening right now to get pointers for next week. Not bad. I’m looking forward to folding in some new guests next week and might even have a surprise if it comes through.
