Music of the Moment: “Things We Said Today”

I’m having a Beatles morning, I guess. 11 e-mailed me a question about the song “Rain.” I admit, I had to cheat and look up the answer on the internet. I don’t know everything but what I do know is the only stuff worth knowing. Or something.

Anyroad, after listening to “Rain” I started flipping through my Beatles albums and was overtaken by the urge to listen to “Things We Said Today.” For those of you unfamiliar, it’s on the A Hard Day’s Night soundtrack. It’s tough to say it’s one of McCartney’s Beatles best because A) there were so many good ones and B) there weren’t that many that sucked. It’s not the most obvious choice, but it’s a very pleasant tune. McCartney did occasionally step on his dick with a lyric, but the man is a Master of Melody.

I also like the future nostalgia bent to the lyrics.
