Music of the Moment: George Harrison - All Things Must Pass
It’s official. I’ve got an obsession.
This isn’t all that remarkable or unusual. I get the fever for a band, song, or album with great regularity. Last year, I went through a massive Guster and Tom Petty phase. A couple years ago I went through a huge Stones phase. TheWifeToWhomI’mMarried remembers a time when we were dating where I listened to nothing but Bowie.
I didn’t think I was going to be in a George Harrison phase. I listened to him and the Beatles the last few days, and I thought that was it. I listened to some Springsteen this morning (”Missing,” “The Promise”). I listened to some Peter Karp and a little Jimmy Rogers. I got ready to start work and I decided I just had to listen to All Things Must Pass from beginning to end. That’s a 3-LP set! That takes discipline. That takes dedication. That takes an attention span that I only have when… I’ve entered a phase.
So, let it begin — or rather, let it continue. Expect to hear more from The Quiet Beatle, or rather more about The Quiet Beatle. TWTWIM gave me some lunch money. Maybe I need to go get one of those George records I don’t yet own…

Save your lunch money…put it on your Amazon wish list and hope for a plethora of cd’s instead of coal in your stocking.
S.Rod, you’ve now seen me on the JoshCam. I think we all know I can skip a meal or 12 for a good cause!
If you like this album, next listen to “Layla.” Somewhat the same band with Duane Allman on slide instead of The Quiet Beatle, and the great sound carries over.
dzzrtRatt, good call. You are correct; Harrison did have a lot of what would become Derek & The Dominoes in the studio with him when he recorded All Things Must Pass.
