George Harrison - “The Art of Dying”
My efforts to listen to this album would be greatly enhanced if co-workers would stop interrupting me. I mean, really! How rude? Don’t they read Fanboy? Don’t they understand I’m on a mission?
My efforts have also been undone by my rediscovery of “The Art of Dying.” Great song! I can’t stop listening to it. Bold statement this is not, but George Harrison really could play up a storm.
The version of the album I’m listening to is the remastered, 30th Anniversary edition. It sounds great! The album was produced by Phil “Hair Bear” Spector, and the Wall of Sound has never sounded better. In fact, I’m feeling the need to go home and put this on the “big” stereo. There are too many hours left in the work day!

I was also in the ATMP mood a month or so ago, and took out the CD booklet, noticing for the first time GH’s comment that Eric Clapton played on many of the songs but couldn’t be credited due to record label restrictions. As a result, my guess is that the crazy guitars on “Art of Dying” are those of Mr. Clapton and not GH. (Regrettably!)
Mig, you are right about the liner notes mentioning how much EC did uncredited. I’m sure he was a big part of that sound, but I would bet it was still very much a collaborative effort.
