A Potpouri of Links, Randoms, and Upcoming Events
| Arctic Monkeys - Favourite Worst Nightmare |
Let’s start this off without any words…
Mark Saleski and I both reviewed the new Arctic Monkeys’ CD, Favourite Worst Nightmare. We came to similar conclusions (we like it), but from different approaches. Mark’s Review|My Review.
I don’t like American Idol, but I like Tom Johnson. He wrote a good breakdown of the recent events on the show.
Morrison Hotel isn’t a new album, but it’s new in stores again in a new incarnation. El Bicho has a great writeup about that. Best to go read it now.
The Blues Music Awards are less than a month away which means I have to turn up the gain and get some stuff written for here and there. I have in my possession four albums that I need to get reviewed before May 10:
- Janiva Magness - Do I Move You?
- Irma Thomas - After the Rain
- Michael Powers - Prodigal Son
- Last of the Great Mississippi Delta Bluesmen - Live in Dallas
Janiva and Irma are the only two Album of the Year nominees I haven’t already reviewed. After I review those two albums, I’d like to write something up about the category as a hole. I’m also planning on telling you all who I voted for and re-capping the actual winners after the event.
So, busy yourself with my recommended reading and be prepared for a staggering amount of blues content in the coming days.

woa….did you actually use the word ‘potpouri’?
Sure. It’s called a vocabulary. Mine extends beyond profanity. Who knew?
