Guster Has a Good Woodie: A Little Innuendo for Music and The Environment
My good friends the mighty Guster won an award from MTV. What fuckin’ cosmic bunnyhole have I slipped into?
Technically, the award was from MTVu, not MTV the mothership its ownself.
Never heard of MTVu? Me neither – until now – but there it is and my heroes have won an award. So, what did they win? The Good Woodie, of course. Fellas, I never knew!
Okay, enough of the sophomoric double entendre… the Good Woodie goes to the band whose commitments to social causes effected the greatest change in the past year; music that makes a difference. Guster started an organization called Reverb, which helps bands to go “green” whilst on tour.
Hurrah for Guster! That’s a nice haul and I’m happy for them. I’d be happier still if they’d have been recognized for their music and the masterpiece that is Ganging Up on the Sun, but I’m tremendously happy about this recognition.
I’m now going to unofficially partner myself with MTVu on behalf of Guster, the planet, and music lovers everywhere. MTVu has recognized them for doing their part to clean the place up. I’m going to once again pimp the glories of their most recent album. Someone on your Christmas list deserves that record. Give it to your boss and you’ll be promoted in no time, give it to a friend and become their best friend, give it to that sexy someone and become their friend with benefits.
This record can transform your life and make you and everyone you gift it to a better person by at least 39 percent.
