It’s Been A Hard Day’s Night, and it’s only Noon

I started with Help!, rolled through With The Beatles, and now I’m listening to A Hard Day’s Night.

One of the nice things about these vinyl-first albums is their run time. The limitations of the ol’ 33 1/3 means these albums had to be concise. There are a lot of artists who could take a lesson from that. Just because you now can go over an hour doesn’t mean you should. Digital has given artists new freedom and that’s great, but some of have gone speeding through freedom right into excess.

These Beatles records had to be lean, and most of them are. I think I prefer Help! to A Hard Day’s Night, with the exception of “Things We Said Today.”

My iPod is the highlight of this workday. I can’t go into detail, but the dayjob is crushing me at the moment.
