Let’s Talk About My iPod: Garbage
It’s time now for a special edition of “Let’s Talk About My iPod” in honor of our extended edition of Garbage Week.
What I’ve done is take the Top 20 Most Played Garb age songs from my iPod rather than try to somehow compile a random number of my favorite Garbage tracks in some sort of order. The first thing I noticed is that the stronger half of Bleed Like Me is probably a little too highly represented. Those songs are good but I kind of OD’d on them when the album dropped two years ago, thus inflating their position on the list.
The Top 10
1. #1 Crush (Remix) — Romeo + Juliet: Forced to choose, this probably is my favorite Garbage song ever.
2. Why Do You Love Me — Bleed Like Me: I like it when Garbage turns up the guitars. I obsessed on this song a bit at the outset. I still like it, but not this much.
3. Run Baby Run — Bleed Like Me: I like this one better than “Why Do You Love Me.” This is a good one.
4. Right Between The Eyes — Bleed Like Me: I’ll never be able to listen to this one with a straight face because I somehow thought Shirley Manson was saying “Marlon Brando and the big surprise.” It made no sense that she would say that, but it’s what I initially heard. That I like this song should tell you those aren’t the real lyrics.
5. Bleed Like Me — Bleed Like Me: In the great tradition of “Take a Walk on The Wild Side” by Lou Reed. This one isn’t my favorite, but it’s solid.
6. Bad Boyfriend — Bleed Like Me: Ahh, the snarl of The Shirl. Big guitars, big drums (from Dave Grohl), this is a good album opener and one of my favorites.
7. Supervixen — Garbage: Enough said.
8. Vow — Garbage: My favorite song from my favorite Garbage album.
9. Stupid Girl — Garbage: A classic, isn’t it?
10. Fix Me Now — Garbage: Right up there with “Supervixen” in terms of LP tracks.
