Let’s Talk About My iPod: May 31, 2007
I can now put myself to bed secure in the knowledge that I succeeded in my efforts to make tonight a working night. Translation: I got a lot of work done.
I wrote a preview of the upcoming Stones’ DVD set. I also finished the rough draft of my review of Muddy Waters’ Breakin’ it Up, Breakin’ it Down. I think I’ve pretty well got the review the way I want it. The advantage to finishing it a few days early is I can let it sit for a day or two and then come back and tighten and tweak it. Ideally, this is the best way to write. Admittedly, sometimes I’m writing on deadline and have to live with what I can put together in the moment. Sometimes my reviews are snapshots describing only what I think of an album at a given time. In a sense, that’s all they can be. I’ve changed my mind on plenty of records. The bulk of it is now written, and that pleases me. I still have plenty more to do, but I put a dent in things.
