Music of the Moment: “Quarter to Three” - Bruce Springsteen
On this day in 1961, Gary “U.S.” Bonds’ “Quarter to Three” was the #1 song in America. I don’t have his version of the song on my iPod.
What I do have is the killer live version Bruce Springsteen & The E-Street Band did back in ‘75 at the Hammersmith-Odeon in London on the Born to Run tour.
A professionally mastered, single-show, complete performance by Springsteen from the Born to Run tour is one of the most important rock and roll artifacts we’ve been given. I’m going to celebrate that by listening to a great rock and roll song performed by a great rock and roll band. If you don’t have Hammersmith, you cannot get to a store fast enough to buy it.
