O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, What Bounty Lies Beneath Thee?

So this was Christmas. What did you get?

I did pretty well this year. TheWifeToWhomI’mMarried took expert care of me and I had a nice haul. My non-music gifts include a new Oakland Raiders pullover and Dexter Season 1

On the music front, I got Ringo and the David Bowie box. The Bowie Box (read Deputy Prime Minister Ray Ellis’ excellent review) includes five previously released Bowie albums, each accompanied by a bonus disc and nicely packaged.

We’ve already watched Dexter, I’ve blasted the Ringo disc a few times, and now I’m picking my way through the Bowie Box. Merry Christmas to me, indeed.

It gets even better. I worked a lot of overtime leading up to the Christmas holiday and that money arrives tomorrow, just in time for our annual New Year’s Eve pilgrimage to Columbia, S. Carolina (we’re actually leaving tomorrow).

So what do I plan to do with this OT cash? Music, fuckers! First on my list is a new external hard drive (I need it to host all the music on my 160GB iPod). After that, I’ve already picked out a nice handful of CDs. I’m going to have it all shipped to me in S. Carolina so I can go ahead and get my current iTunes library backed up and add some new stuff to it (Amazon Prime is the nuts!).

So, was Santa good to you? Share your Christmas hauls with the group.

  1. I had a pretty decent Christmas. Music wise I got Ghostface Killah’s The Big Doe Rehab and Mary J. Blige’s Growing Pains. DVD-wise, I got Looney Tunes Golden Collection Volume 5, Superbad, & The Simpsons Movie.

However, I got the best stuff today. I went out and got Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool and…an 8GB Creative Zen. It’s my first mp3 player since my short-lived Sansa. I’m charging it now and I can’t wait to use it.

  2. Good show, Sterfish. Portable digital music has become a necessity for my way of life. I’m glad you’re able to return to it.

I still haven’t gotten The Simpsons movie.

  3. I talked my wife into buying a (now piddling sized) 80 gig ipod right before we left the States and technically it is my Christmas/birthday/anniversary present.

My wife was kind though and bought me the West Wing: the entire series.

  4. That’s a great haul, Brewster. Of course, your still smaller than me but we already established that. The 160 is the only way to go. ;-)

I have the first five seasons of West Wing and doubt I’ll add the next two. Most of Season 5 kind of blew. The first four are gold.

  5. Yeah we just completed the first season and a couple of episodes of the second. That’s exactly the amount I saw just before we left for China. I wanted a refresher course before we saw the new stuff and I’m now crazy excited to start into the stuff I haven’t seen.

  6. [...] talking about listening to David Bowie’s Earthling, which was part of my Bowie Box Set, I’ve started listening to Hours. Friend o’ the site Tom Johnson says this is one of [...]
