Sunshine on a Cloudy Day
I finally finished my Richard Hawley review. It took longer than I’d hoped it would but I think it turned out rather well. You can check it out if you’re so inclined. You should check out the review and the record.
I am a believer in the snowball effect. Good and bad things have a way of compounding one another. So, I pulled up to the mailbox yesterday feeling good because I was done with work and I’d accomplished a goal. I open the mailbox and what do I see? The Gutter Twins’ debut record Saturnalia. The album actually streets today and when I pre-ordered it from Sub Pop they said they would ship it on release day. I was afraid the album would show up while we’re in S. Carolina this weekend, but it was sure as shit sitting in my mailbox a day early! How fuckin’ great is that? This is one of those records I’ve been looking forward to for awhile now and I’m absolutely convinced it will be one of the year’s best.
The Gutter Twins is a collaboration between Mark Lanegan (Screaming Trees) and Greg Dulli (Afghan Whigs). I’m three songs into it and I’m already crazy about it.
Now for the clincher: my wife ordered the Chuck Berry box set for me and it will be here tomorrow. It’s good to be King.
