8 Days a Week: The Countdown to Atlanta Begins

It has become clear to me that I am operating on a higher plane than you mere mortals. Actually it has been clear to me for some time but it is even more obvious to me this morning. The voices in my head know the long wait for my first Bruce Springsteen show is almost over. 8 days, boys and girls, 8 days.

I didn’t plan to spend my morning listening to Springsteen but my subconscious tapped me on the shoulder and started my day on the right path. I began the morning the with the contemplative “My Beautiful Reward,” a wonderful song from Lucky Town. It didn’t take long for me to shift from contemplation to full on fist-pumping enthusiasm in the semi-private confines of my cube walls as I cranked the Live in NYC version of “Ramrod” (still the definitive version of that song).

I then remembered that Bruce opened his recent show in Houston with “Cadillac Ranch.” I only have one “official” live version of “CR,” from Live ‘75/85, so I ran with that next. Even with no Starbucks this morning I felt myself beginning to get hyper so I went for it- “Adam Raised a Cain,” also from ‘75/85. The best part of that song is hearing Clarence Clemons shout “Yeah!” a good two beats behind the rest of the band. Hilarious.

I don’t conceive grand plans on my own in the morning hours, but “someone” had other ideas. The long wait is almost over. It’s game time and I need to be ready.

Atlanta… you’ve been warned.
