As The Day Changes World Tomorrow Finger
Tip o’ the cap to Dennis Miller. I was thinking about how quickly the Soundtrack of the Day can change and I was going to title this post “As The Day Changes.” It cracked me up because that sounded like a fuckin’ soap opera title. I then started trying to stream together all the Soap keywords the way Dennis Miller did with the 007 films on a recent standup DVD.
Anyway, the day’s listening has taken a sharp turn. I started out listening to Counting Crows‘ Hard Candy because I woke up with the title track in my head. 11 and I started reliving our our Springsteen/Atlanta show and that sent me scurrying to listen to a few of those songs. Those few songs have segued into an afternoon of Springsteen.
11 is Roger Waters bitter about “Bobby Jean” having been requested by one of the fans in “the pit.” “Bobby Jean” isn’t anywhere near my favorite Springsteen song, but I don’t dislike it. The truth is I didn’t even know it all that well. I’m not a huge fan of the Born in the U.S.A. album. I listened to the song today — it’s fine — and wound up listening to pretty much all of BITUSA. It’s been played 64,000 times, so I was due for it. 11 is still bitter, bordering on emo. I’m still basking in the glow of the rest of the set list.
After rolling through BITUSA, I listened to a chunk of Born to Run and have now queued up Tracks.
“This is called ‘Rendezvous.’”
