I’m Certified! I’m Certified! ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!
The feeling.
I watched the last few minutes of the Celtics/Lakers game last night, pulling for the Celtics to win. I wasn’t cheering the Celtics on because I’m a Celtics fan. I was cheering on the Celtics because I want the NBA season over. I also have to admit to having always been a big fan of Kevin Garnett. Last night he reminded me one more time why that is.
Seeing the pure joy on his face is something I don’t think I’ll forget. Seeing him driven literally insane by the ecstasy of the moment and losing his shit in the face of the pure, pure joy is one of the most beautiful sports moments I can remember. Never in one million years will I ever go to pieces in joy like that, but I feel like I understood it.
I think what winning that championship brought out of him lives within all of us. What lights the fuse and what the explosion looks like is different, but that depth of emotion is within us all.
For some reason I was overtaken with an urge to listen to U2’s Slane Castle performance of “New Year’s Day.” I’m certified! I’m certified!
