Music of the Moment: Barrett Martin - “A Rumor of Rain”
I’m still listening to Barrett Martin and I’ve found another song title that feels aprapo of the day: “A Rumor of Rain.” 74% humidity! For fucks’ sake, open the sky and commence with the downpour. I can imagine God wringing out the air and like a washrag and the water falling. I need fucking gills for this.
Okay I know, enough about the weather. The song is pretty special, too. Using multiple percussive instruments, Martin creates the sound of a mythical rain as cellos mourn its delay in falling. It’s a brilliant composition and remains one of my favorites.
I can’t wait until Zenga is released!
