Knopfler in Nashville, TONIGHT
It’s been so long I don’t remember when 11 and I ordered tickets to go see Mark Knopfler. That’s the only excuse I can come up with for how this show seems to have snuck up on me like this.
At 7:30 tonight, the former Dire Straits frontman will take the stage at historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. I’ve set aside my new Springsteen digital EP to do a quick spin through a couple of the Knopfler solo albums I’ve collected. I’ve listened to half of his new album Kill to Get Crimson, which I like a little more each time I listen. I’m now checking out some of Sailing to Philadelphia. I love his guitar lead on “What It Is.”
Next up is probably a song or two from All The Roadrunning, his duet album with Emmylou Harris. I need a few of those Auburn boosters who trailed Bobby Louder’s plane to Louisville to discover his secret meeting with Bobby Petrino. I’d like to know if Emmylou is in Nashville tonight. A cameo would be pretty sweet. One can hope.

Lucky you - he’s not coming to Phoenix. I’m sure it’ll be a great show.
Were you aware that you get a free copy of his new album with your tickets? I just found this on his site when I was looking at the tour dates. You already have it, but you can always pass on the extra copy to someone else.
Shangri-La remains my favorite album of his. Good stuff.
You had to order a pair to be eligible. I got a single.
I don’t own Shangri La yet. You need the new one though. Very strong.
