Indecision 2008: NIN, Pearl Jam, Poe, Pulp, or Phair?
Overload! Overload! I woke up this morning with so many things I wanted to listen to and I had trouble pulling the trigger on any one of them. I also woke up this morning with a headache, so that complicates things.
During the “after hours” portion of the B-Sides Concept Album program from last night, Sahm, S.Rod, and I got into an in-depth conversation about Nine Inch Nails. After talking about that for so long I really wanted to spend some time listening to some of those records today. I’m having something of a breakthrough where they’re concerned and I’m motivated to follow through on this and see where it leads.
I’ve also been struggling to resist the temptation to buy the 2008 Pearl Jam bootlegs and have had them on the brain. Making things worse is that the first thing 11 did in an e-mail this morning was quote lyrics from Pearl Jam’s “Animal.”
I’ve also been overdosing myself on Liz Phair’s Exile in Guyville, Poe’s Hello, and Pulp’s This is Hardcore. Everything sounds good to me right now and I want to listen to it all, all at once. This cannot be done. Too many songs, not enough hours in my day.
So, what did I choose to start with? Nine Inch Nails, of course. What about the headache? Ghosts I-IV.

Fear not. The conversation was contagious. I am in the middle of listening to Dirt right now. What’s my drug of choice? I don’t know, what’ve you got?
