R.E.M. Accelerate Set List 08.25 08 Cardiff, Wales: We’re “Exhuming McCarthy,” Finally

It’s time to go back to the future, boys and girls.  With all the Springsteen blather leading up to the Nashville show I completely lost track of R.E.M.’s tour across Europe to promote Accelerate.  We’ve got six shows to catch up and we’re going to go in reverse chronological order, starting with last night’s show in Cardiff, Wales.

I’ve lost track of whether or not this is a debut but I can tell you that “Exhuming McCarthy” has been surprisingly absent from the politically-intensive shows that have made up this tour.  “New Test Leper” hasn’t been played much, either.

  1. i really wish they’d play “Across The Border”

    oh shit…sorry…

    ;-)

  2. Cracking wise with me, eh? You will get dealt with, sir.

  3. I see that “End of the World” is back in the live show…when did they do that? It’s been dormant for a few years and I always liked it as the closer.

  4. cracking wise? nah, just still stuck mentally in the Magic tour.

    oh, and i’m bored.

and i like “Imitation of Life”, but that’s anothe issue.

  5. “Imitation” is a great piece of music. It’s catchy and fun. Lyrically, it embarrasses me.

CoachD, “End Of The World” had not been played extensively on this tour but seems to be back in favor with the band on this latest stretch.
