The Jellyfish Are Still My BFF
It’s been really tough focusing on the B.B. King record because of how excited I got while listening to those two Jellyfish records earlier this afternoon. I wanted to come home and crank them on the home stereo, but duty called and I need to get my King review written and that starts by listening to the record a few times. I keep telling myself Jellyfish will still be there when I’m done, but patience isn’t one of my strong suits. It’s a testament to the quality of the King record that I’m able to focus on it as much as I am.
I don’t know if I’ll get my review finished today. It’s still in outline/rough draft form right now. It’s really tough for me to write about one album while listening to another, especially when I’ve only listened to the album in question twice. I’m going to have to stay with One Kind Favor for awhile, but I am going to allow myself a Jellyfish break at some point.
I am actually still learning these Jellyfish songs, too. I listened to Spilt Milk 3x yesterday and Bellybutton once. Songs emerging as favorites thus far are “That is Why,” “Bedspring Kiss,” “Calling Sarah,” “Joining a Fan Club,” and “All is Forgiven.” I liked all the other songs and some of them quite a bit, but these are the first ones that really jumped out at me today.
Okay, I have to stop talking about them or I’m not going to get the B.B. King review finished.
