Snow Patrol’s New Album Oct. 28

Snow Patrol is set to release their fifth album in October, joining the typically crowded 4th quarter new release schedule.  A Hundred Million Suns will be released October 28, preceded by first single “Take Back The City” on October 13.

The band were once again joined by longtime producer Jacknife Lee (On a Pogo Stick), he of the incredibly loud records.  Fortunately, Snow Patrol’s records don’t play quite as loud as say U2’s How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb and R.E.M.’s Accelerate, but the lack of dynamics in the sound can still be quite oppressive.  I know a lot of that comes in when the album is mastered, not produced, but Jacknife Lee (On a Pogo Stick) is a common denominator.  We’re not profiling here, just being mildly observant.

As for the new record itself, I’m looking forward to it and I know TheWifeToWhomI’mMarried will be, as well.  I preferred Final Straw to Eyes Open, but I generally like both.  I think TWTWIM is the opposite, preferring Eyes Open. I know she’s particularly fond of “Chasing Cars.”  October is getting damn costly.

The band recorded in Ireland as well as the Berlin studio where David Bowie’s Berlin Trilogy and U2’s Achtung Baby were recorded.

A Hundred Million Suns is the followup to the platinum-selling Eyes Open.

And don’t you forget it, Mister! I like them. I don’t love them. They’re not in my pantheon but I like a few of their songs.
