Springsteen Writes Theme To Film “The Wrestler”
According to the NME, Bruce Springsteen has written the title track for an upcoming film called The Wrestler.
Describing the piece on his blog, the film’s director Darren Aronofsky said:
“Bruce Springsteen wrote a beautiful original song for the closing the film.
“Called ‘The Wrestler,’ it is a wonderful acoustic piece. Makes me choke up every time I hear it. He really captured the spirit of the film and Mickey’s character in the piece.”
The Wrestler stars Mickey Rourke as a veteran wrestler trying to make a living in the ring. The film is slated for release later this year.
Well, interesting then. I wonder if Bruce shouldn’t have saved a few of those verses from “The Hitter” (from Devils & Dust) for the occasion. Hell, he probably did. Once you’ve written about a boxer, how big a stretch is it to wrestling?
I’m eager to hear the song and to hear Bruce working in that stripped-down environment. When I know more, you’ll know more.

i’m pretty psyched to hear this. maybe even to see the film.
though man, how sad is it that rourke’s weird face is only suitable for an aging wrestler?
I don’t know that I’ll be psyched for the film, but I definitely want to hear the song.
