Barrett Martin on The B-Sides Concept Album, Recap
I opened the program last night talking about the feeling of being a kid in a candy store. By the end of last night, I felt like I owned the fuckin’ candy store. In the 34+ years I’ve been circling the sun, last night goes down as one of the best nights of my life. It was a fascinating discussion with a brilliant, thoughtful artist and I walked away awestruck and inspired.
I really can’t encourage you enough to download or stream the program and listen to Barrett weigh in on his days with Screaming Trees and Mad Season, the time he’s spent working with R.E.M., insights into the way he composes and why he likes creating instrumental records, his travels to all around the world as a student of music, and his thoughts on the music business from the perspective of a person running his own independent label. It’s a fast 90 minutes from someone who really had a lot to say.
There will be more about this over the coming days.

I’m sorry I missed this Josh, but I’m downloading as I speak. But you can’t seriously tell me this Barrett Martin character was a more interesting guest than the “Iguana”…can you?
-Glen
Iguana Glen, it was a close competition between the two of you but I can’t imagine even you’ll disagree when you hear the interview. Being a Seattle-ite yourself I’m sure this will have special resonance for you.
the ignuana has been knocked off his perch…..or treebranch….or whatever the heck it is that iguana’s sit on
