BSCA Gets Addicted To Love
All you need is love. You’re gonna have to face it, you’re addicted to love. It’s all about the love tonight on the B-Sides Concept Album program on BlogTalkRadio, and you’re invited to share in the love!
It’s Valentine’s Day and tonight we discuss the best and worst love songs and we want you to be a part of it. Do you have a special song for you and the someone in your life? Is it a guilty pleasure, an all-time classic, or a song destined for canonization?
Maybe you have a special song for yourself because you have no special someone? We want to know about it! Love makes the world go ’round, let’s celebrate the songs that celebrate it.
There’s also the flip side: songs about love that make you want none of it. Are there songs that make you want to immediately fall out of love? We want to know about that, too. What are the worst love songs ever?
Join B-Sides Concept Album host Josh Hathaway and his panel to discuss the musical side of Valentine’s Day.
The B-Sides Concept Album is a weekly look at the world of music and airs every Thursday night at 9PM CST (blogtalkradio.com/bsidesconceptalbum). Callers are welcome (646) 595-3499. Past guests include Grammy-nominee Rahim Al Haj, former Screaming Trees/Mad Season drummer Barrett Martin, Peter Karp, and Blues Music Award-nominee Nick Moss.

oh…a Valentine’s Day show.
Well, five songs that immediately come to mind are songs that Mark & I choose for our wedding/CD give aways.
Do You Realize? - The Flaming Lips (Recessional)
All I Need - Air (Our first dance)
You’re My Best Friend - Queen (Cake cutting)
Destiny - Air (dance after cake cutting)
I’m The Man Who Loves You - Wilco
We had so much fun that day.
I’m not familiar with all of those songs. You’ll have to call in and tell us about them and why you chose them for the different wedding moments.
Good call not going with something old and withered. Air, Flaming Lips, Wilco… those are nice and fresh. Queen isn’t even all that old or moldy.
It’s good you actually had fun that day. Most people get swallowed up by the stress. We had a courthouse wedding. I highly recommend our approach.
A few of my favorite “disillusioned” lovesongs:
She Wants To Play Hearts - Ryan Adams
Wish We Never Met - Kathleen Wilhoite
Nothing Precious At All - Stereophonics
Now And Then - Pete Townshend
Be My Number Two - Joe Jackson
A Man Needs A Maid - Neil Young
I Turned Your Picture To The Wall - Norah Jones
I Hope That I Don’t Fall In Love With You - Tom Waits
Sorry I missed the “love fest” on BSCA, but here’s a few belated Valentine’s choices:
“Be My Baby” and “Baby I Love You” by the immortal Ronettes.
John Lennon’s “Woman” is also a good one.
Love And kisses,
-Iguana Glen
Some great choices in both camps, fellas. I’m particularly fond of the Norah Jones and Ryan Adams songs, Donald. Glen, “Woman” is one I mentioned on the show.
