Catblogging Ringo Starr
We had dinner last night with my mom and her husband. It’s been an awful struggle for my mom at work (discretion dictates I not elaborate further) but she was able to get out of the house last night and we had some dinner. It hasn’t been a banner year for her husband, either, but he got some very good news last week. Anyway, we had dinner with them and it was great.
After that, my mom and I went to SatanBestBuy. Her husband had to run in to Sears and she didn’t want to go so we went and kicked around. My mom is probably more responsible for my music obsession than anyone. Anyway, last night she bought me Ringo Starr’s Liverpool 8, which I just finished listening to. It’s a good record. I was supposed to have gotten a copy from two different contacts and neither sent it to me. Anyway, yesterday at work I listened to Ringo and Photograph (his hits package) and decided to just buy it myself. Then Mom stepped in and hooked me up. It was a nice little surprise.
After listening to Ringo, I’ve been listening to some Springsteen. First I listened to Tom Petty’s “Apartment Song” and thought lustful thoughts about the Mobile Fidelity remaster of Full Moon Fever. I’d have to win the lottery — which I don’t play — or somehow strike it rich, rich, rich before I’d spend over $100 to get a copy of that. Even then I’m not sure I could bring myself to do it because I’m afraid of a place called Hell. Anyway, I listened to “Apartment” and have since been listening to some random Bruce tracks.
The line “Well they blew up the Chicken Man in Philly last night” got stuck in my head and I had to listen to “Atlantic City.” I listened to the Nebraska version as well as the NYC live version. Now I’m listening to “Springsteen Radio” on my iPod. I created a playlist that will cycle through my favorite Springsteen songs at random. First up was “Born in the USA.” I just listened to Clarence’s sax solo on “Jungleland” and it looks like “57 Channels (and Nothin’ On)” is up next.
Happy Saturday.

Awww…mommy bought lil Josh a CD. It’s great when mom offers to buy something for you.
Yeah, it was kind of awesome. Making this all the more awesome is sort of a long backstory to a toddler/preschool-aged Josh.
Anyway, I like the Ringo CD and Mom is awesome.
The new Ringo is pretty good. It won’t really knock your socks off, but it is pretty darn listenable and fun.
