Mariah Carey Releases New Album, Another Piece of My Soul Dies
If you look at the sales ad for SatanBestBuy you might be under the impression that Mariah Carey is the only one releasing a new album this week. What’s worse is that Best Buy’s sales ad could give one the impression they think this is a good thing. Is it any wonder I work so hard to avoid doing business with these assholes?
I don’t do a weekly new release column here at Fanboy, but I feel an obligation to do a PSA for people with (good) taste in music. Let me point you in the direction of a albums being released by artists, not commodities named Mariah Carey:
- Rush - Snakes and Arrows Live: I’m not a big Rush guy, but I know some fans of the band and they say S&A was a great record. Here’s a souvenir from that tour.
- The Kooks - Konk: There are some people working very hard on behalf of this record. I’ve got a copy… that I left at home. I’d planned on listening to it today. Damn it! I’m going to check this one out, though. I’m interested. NME kind of pissed all over the record but what interests me more is the spirited defense of the record by Kooks fans. NME also pissed on the new Black Keys record, so their review department doesn’t hold much sway with me.
- Eden Brent - Mississippi Number One: Such a good record from this former International Blues Challenge winner!
- Frank Black: Is there anything more rock and roll than Frank Black? No, I don’t think so.
You have choices, people. We do not have to be victims of Mariah Carey or SatanBestBuy. Fight back. Support something that doesn’t suck.
