Music of the Moment: “Late Night Saint” by Nick Moss & The Flip Tops

“Some days are diamonds, some days are rocks.”
— Tom Petty

“Some days are better than others”
— Bono

Some days need a shot of espresso, a jolt of adrenaline. Some people take that literally and have a morning espresso. I’ve been known to from time to time but as the weather heats up, my desire for coffee diminishes. I need something to give me that rush, and music is often where I turn. I found the perfect energy burst in the form of “Late Night Saint” by Nick Moss & The Flip Tops.

It’s not a song about anything that I’m doing right now. “Late Night Saint” isn’t being stuck behind the blue-green glow of a computer monitor in an office cube. It’s not about trying to wake up and focus your energies on the daily grind. This is a song about… well… the lyrics aren’t subtle and that which is understood need not be explained.

I’m not getting my energy boost from the song’s content but from the big time groove, the ramshackle rock, and the nasty blues. There’s a propulsive beat, snarling guitar lead, and some super cool electric piano work and that create a righteous racket guaranteed to transform you and take you to that place. It’s Tuesday, and I’m feeling pretty good about it.

So cheers to Nick Moss & The Flip Tops. “Late Night Saint” is your song of the day.
