Music of the Moment: Mudcrutch
It’s Wednesday. I’m sure that means something. I’m not sure what. It’s been an unsettling morning and I feel like I’m still trying to catch up to my day. It reminds me of those Westerns where you see someone running or riding a horse alongside a moving train, trying to catch up. Right now I’m at that stage where I’m standing up in the stirrups and have my left hand reaching out…
With that, I find myself spending more time listening to the new Mudcrutch CD. It took no time for me to like the record but it did take some time for favorite songs to emerge. So far, “The Wrong Thing To Do” is a favorite. The Benmont Tench-sung “This is a Good Street” is another one I like a great deal. “Crystal River” is interesting because Petty rarely allows the Heartbreakers to take a song and extend it this long. It’s also really good.
Anyway, I’ve started jotting down a few notes and I’m enjoying my “work.” I’ll have a full review up soon- next day or so, I’d think. I might even get a chance to work on it tonight, but that requires my horse to catch the train.
