The Show Must Go On 04/22/08 Tampa, FL: Springsteen Returns to Stage For First Time Since Dan Federici Dies

What can a poor boy do except sing in a rock and roll band? Five days after the passing of E Street Band keyboardist Dan Federici, Bruce Springsteen and the rest of the E Street Band returned to the stage to resume their tour.

The show opened with a video tribute to their fallen friend. 11 predicted “Blood Brothers” was going to get dusted off in the wake of Federici’s passing and he wasn’t wrong. The band didn’t perform the song but instead used it as the soundtrack to the video tribute, and then the show began. There were tears and emotions ran high throughout the show. Springsteen thanked the crowd for being there to help them begin again, because what else is there to do?
