Welcome to the Buyer’s Remorse column for 2007. I called my shot and named my Top 10 Albums of the Year, and already I’m pissed about all the great records I didn’t get to mention. Fortunately there’s an easy remedy for that. In no particular order (unless otherwise noted), here are a […]

After listening to all the Zeppelin, I queued up George Harrison’s Concert for Bangladesh. I got it as a Christmas present from our friends in S. Carolina and got to listen to a lot of it, but never got to hear it all. I think I picked up where I left off, right […]

I read an interesting article the other day about the potential for another vinyl uprising and was reminded of Dylan’s Modern Times record. Dylan slagged modern recordings, saying they sounded atrocious and static filled in an interview he gave around the time of MT’s release.
That article and quote stuck with me and […]

I’ve been kicking around what to say about Highway 61 Revisited turning 42 all morning long.
Writing about Dylan is damn difficult to do. People have been doing it for years and many have wound up looking foolish. It’s not that I’m above looking foolish but I’d rather take […]

It was classic rock day on my iPod yesterday, at least while I was at work. Aerosmith, Bowie, Flying Burrito Brothers, Pink Floyd, The Eagles… it was just like any typical day on any typical classic rock station. Well, the bands fit that bill but not every song would be an obvious choice. […]

Don’t Believe The Truth is a great album and a great album title. It also sums up my feelings after doing a bit of research into the supposed deluxe versions of those four Unplugged albums I mentioned last week.
I knew something was up when I started doing some digging on the AiC release. […]

For those of you who couldn’t get all the way to the bottom of my earlier indulgent-yet-charming piece, Sony/Legacy is preparing to re-release four classic Unplugged albums Sept. 18.
Alice in Chains, Bob Dylan, Tony Bennett, and Mariah Carey’s Unplugged albums will all be re-released accompanied by a DVD with bonus features.
Here is […]

Among the many cool ideas that emerged from the ’90s was the whole Unplugged phenomenon. The list of atrocities perpetrated by MTV is staggering, but I tip my cap to them for one of the few good things that came from their reign.

“Yes, I’m aware that MTV did not invent acoustic music […]

I might as well change the name of the site to The Dylan Chronicles, or something like that.
It turns out most of the cool stuff Bob Dylan ever did was in the month of May. He was born in May, and he released two of his greatest albums in May.
We’ve already talked about the […]
