The countdown is over. It’s finally here. I’ll soon be getting in the car and heading for Atlanta to see my first ever Bruce Springsteen show. Because I’m a very bad man I’m tempted to fill this post with all sorts of virginal imagery and how there’s nothing like the first time. […]

It wasn’t supposed to be like this.
I had planned to start ramping things up around here centered on my upcoming trip to Atlanta on Friday to see my very first Bruce Springsteen concert. That sad passing of “Phantom” Dan Federici, combined with my conversation with Adam Duritz, kind of halted that momentum.
Now I need […]

It has become clear to me that I am operating on a higher plane than you mere mortals. Actually it has been clear to me for some time but it is even more obvious to me this morning. The voices in my head know the long wait for my first Bruce Springsteen show […]

Is there any song more perfect to open a show than “Cadillac Ranch?” I can’t think of it if there is. Damn, I wish that would have been saved to open for us in Atlanta. I love that one. Houston also got “Rosalita,” “Tenth Avenue Freeze Out,” and the 2008 premiere […]

Never let it be said that Bruce Springsteen doesn’t understand the moment and that he can’t hold a grudge. Do you think it’s a coincidence that the band played “Independence Day” for the first time on tour in the president’s home state? Do you think he’d allow Jon Bon Jovi on his stage […]

I can’t say I like the set list for Anaheim #2 better than I like it for the first night, but there are some great and inspired song choices here. Best of all, Tom Morello came out and played “The Ghost of Tom Joad” again and our good friend El Bicho got to see […]

I still think the most exciting event of last night was Kansas’ stunning comeback victory against Memphis in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament last nigh, giving the Jayhawks their first title in 20 years. I didn’t imagine there would be competition, only because I forgot Bruce & Co. were playing San Jose last night.
The […]

Three big debuts last night in San Jose. That’s incredible. I’m almost rendered speechless by the massive cool of this set. In addition to the three debuts, we also got “Trapped” and “Incident on 57th Street” by request. This sign thing is something else. I don’t think it will work […]

Wow… open with “Spirit in the Night,” debut “Murder,” and throw “Ramrod” and “Rosalita” in the encore!
I’ll take this show in Atlanta, “Across the Border” and “Santa Ana” be damned. That’s one hell of a set!

Opening with “Atlantic City?” I hear you, Bruce. I’d say that’s unexpected but we’ve officially reached a point in the tour where expectations are a bit fuckin’ ridiculous. He’s likely to play anything at any time (well, maybe not “The Price You Pay” or “Across The Border”).
25 days until Atlanta. I […]
