It took awhile, but I think I’ve found my Monday mojo. I’ve been looking for the right music for the day all morning and not having a lot of luck.
I started with The Black Keys’ Rubber Factory and Magic Potion. I really like both albums but neither completely captured my imagination.
Next up was Buddy Guy’s [...]

I’m pretty well indoctrinated and brainwashed by the Cult of Apple. I replaced my PowerBook with a 17″ Mac Book Pro (I got 17″ of a lot of things, but we’ll leave that for another day). I have owned five iPods, upgrading when storage capacity is upped. I now have an iPhone. [...]

I woke up this morning… sorry, that’s a line for later tonight.
I started out listening to some Foo Fighters this morning, which I enjoyed but quickly tired of. I was having trouble deciding what to listen to. I have some new music I’ve just gotten which I really love, but listening to it [...]

I’ve now had a chance to glance over the Grammy nominations a couple times. *Sigh* Why do I do this to myself? I guess because no one else will let me do it to them.
I know, I know… The Grammys haven’t been relative in – what’s this, the 50th annual? – fifty [...]

It’s not exactly Oprah Winfrey, but U.S. Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential campaign is getting support from another Chicagoland celebrity.
Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy is headlining a fund raiser for the Illinois Democrat. The event is being billed as “Change Rocks†and will take place in Chicago on December 7. Also slated to appear are [...]

I’m not sorry I skipped Bonnaroo, but I wish I’d gotten to see Wilco perform. I love this new record.
I finally finished my review of the new Stones DVD box, The Biggest Bang. I’ll probably have a few follow-up comments on it in the coming days, but in the meantime I’m glad to [...]

I am a complete dolt for taking chart performance personally, but I am play-in-traffic depressed that Linkin Park had the best first-week sales of any record this year with sales topping 623,000. Meanwhile, Wilco scored their second Top 10 debut as Sky Blue Sky debuted at #4, selling 87,000 copies.
I wouldn’t like Wilco any [...]

There is a definite trend in today’s listening: Liverpool. I listened to a fistful of Beatles songs and spent the rest of the day listening to Paul McCartney and George Harrison. Yesterday, I bought the McCartney Wingspan compilation. I decided to start there because many of his albums are about to [...]

There’s not really much to tell here. I spent most of the day listening to Wilco’s Sky Blue Sky.
I went to a dance recital today to see my nieces. I wish there had been a camcorder on my face as I had to listen to some of the songs that were used for [...]

Blonde on Blonde and Pet Sounds turn 41-years old today! How great is that?
Elliott Smith last week, Wilco this week… I was feeling pretty good about the releases for the month of May. In 1966, Blonde on Blonde and Pet Sounds were released. The same day. That is amazing. Blonde [...]
