While writing my Dave Carter review, I was struck by what a great year 2008 has been for music. I was stunned as I started listing albums that have been released this year that I’ve obsessed over at one point or another and we still have 71 days left.

I know it’s strange and not altogether intuitive to start a post about Counting Crows with a Radiohead song quote, but it just seems to fit so I went with it.
I woke up this morning with “Washington Sqaure” in my head, and I’ve been skimming through my Counting Crows collection on my iPod throughout the [...]

Some days the driving force that gets me to the office is the knowledge that I’ll have some time to listen to music. I can only imagine the look on my face when a co-worker stops by my cube to ask me a question, forcing me to remove my earbuds so I can answer them. [...]

Wow, I don’t think I’ve watched A&E since they stopped broadcasting An Evening At The Improv and lost the broadcast rights to Law & Order to TBS. I’m going to have to go to the TV Guide Channel and figure out where they are on our dial because Counting Crows are going to be [...]

It doesn’t usually take this long. Really. It doesn’t.
Most mornings, I wake up with a song in my head. I resist listening to it in the car as I drive to work, opting instead to listen Morning Edition on NPR. I get to my desk, log in to the networks, and [...]

If I had called it a loose end, I’d have to start singing Springsteen and that’s not what I want to talk about right now.
Last week I went and saw Nick Moss & The Flip Tops here in Huntsville. I talked a little bit about that last week, but the BIGBOY writeup was published [...]

Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!
After a week of obsessive Counting Crows listening, I moved on to R.E.M., Radiohead, and The Byrds. I even mixed in some Semisonic yesterday and introduced TheWifeToWhomI’mMarried to the cool that is The Raconteurs’ “Consolers of the Lonely.” I thought I was [...]

It was a light day at work, as far as these things go. I had plenty to do and there was no chance it would all get done today so I stumbled my way through it. My companion today? Counting Crows. Again. Still.
I listened to Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings [...]

I’ve just finished listening to Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings and I’m a few minutes from finishing off Hard Candy. Part of me wants to continue traveling backwards and fire up This Desert Life, while another part of me wants to listen to The Black Crowes’ Warpaint. I think I’m going to do [...]

At some point yesterday afternoon it occurred to me I hadn’t listened to Counting Crows in awhile. I guess it occurred to me because I love the new record Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings and I listened to it obsessively just prior to and immediately after my interview with Adam Duritz (no, I never [...]
