George Harrison would have turned 65 today, born on this day in Liverpool, England in 1943. He died on November 29, 2001 at age 58.
I’ve written and said a lot about George in the days since I started COAF and I wasn’t exactly sad to have another excuse to do that again today- of [...]

If you listen to a song six times in a row it’s probably a good indication you ought to write something about it. At least that’s what I’m telling myself.
I listened to four new albums of music while at work today and after that I was in the mood for something more familiar. [...]

Amazon Prime brought me a present yesterday: a double live album recorded when Harrison fronted Eric Clapton’s band in Japan. I don’t know how long it had been since George had played a live gig, but he’d been relatively absent from touring for most of the ’80s.

Welcome to the Buyer’s Remorse column for 2007. I called my shot and named my Top 10 Albums of the Year, and already I’m pissed about all the great records I didn’t get to mention. Fortunately there’s an easy remedy for that. In no particular order (unless otherwise noted), here are a [...]

After listening to all the Zeppelin, I queued up George Harrison’s Concert for Bangladesh. I got it as a Christmas present from our friends in S. Carolina and got to listen to a lot of it, but never got to hear it all. I think I picked up where I left off, right [...]

Good news for those of you who’ve grown tired of me going on and on about George Harrison… Somewhere in England is almost entirely unlistenable. “Blood From a Clone” is nice; there’s something reassuring in knowing the record industry has always sucked. “All Those Years Ago” is a pleasant refrain about John Lennon. [...]

My plans for a quiet day at home, writing, once again took a dump. It’s not all bad, though. I did continue my CD acquisition binge with three new additions:
Various Artists - Concert for George
The Beatles - Live at the BBC
Paul McCartney - Band On The Run (25th Anniversary Edition)
Notice a theme there? [...]

One of the traditions of our S. Carolina trips is that TWTWIM and our hosts like to rent and watch “scary” movies. I’ve never been a fan of the so-called horror genre, so I sit in the living room with them and retreat to the safe confines of my iPod. Once again, that [...]

That’s right, kids, I’m writing from the great beyond — or at least, the internet equivalent to it. I’m going to have to have one of those getups where a fella can get online anytime, any place because my ass is going through serious withdrawal symptoms. It’s not even funny.
S. Carolina is great [...]

It’s official. I’ve got an obsession.
This isn’t all that remarkable or unusual. I get the fever for a band, song, or album with great regularity. Last year, I went through a massive Guster and Tom Petty phase. A couple years ago I went through a huge Stones phase. TheWifeToWhomI’mMarried remembers [...]
